Validation of a chronic stress at the Neuroscience 2018 Congress

Congratulations to Sophie MENNESON, PhD student at Phodé, for her presentation “Validation of a psychosocial chronic stress model in pigs” at the Neuroscience 2018 conference in San Diego, organized by the Society for Neuroscience.

Founded in 1969, the Society for Neuroscience is the world’s largest organization of scientists and physicians working to understand the brain and nervous system.

Chronic stress is a major disorder and its impact on health is numerous (anxiety, depression, metabolic and gastrointestinal diseases, etc.). The impacts of stress have been extensively studied on different rodent models, but other preclinical models approaching humans are still needed.

Phodé in partnership with INRA has validated a chronic psychosocial stress model in pigs using a wide range of measures commonly used in preclinical studies to assess anxiety and depression. Since pigs are a preferred model for studying nutrition and brain responses in the field of health and neuro-digestive disorders, this model could be useful in exploring anxiolytic and antidepressant solutions.

Through this research project, co-financed by the European Union, Phodé advances research on the understanding of stress and its management mode through innovative sensory solutions.
